On 22 and 23 September, STACKFORCE participated in The Things Conference 2026 (TTC) in Amsterdam, one of Europe’s leading events for IoT, LPWAN and connected device technologies. The ninth edition of the conference brought together thousands of IoT professionals, developers, technology providers and industry leaders to discuss the future of connected systems and showcase real-world solutions. The event focused on practical implementations, interoperability and technology innovation across the IoT ecosystem.
This year’s TTC was held under the motto “Put your demo where your mouth is”, highlighting the industry’s shift from theoretical concepts to proven and deployable solutions. A strong emphasis was placed on interoperability and collaboration between technologies rather than competition between protocols.
Meeting the connectivity community
At booth S40, the STACKFORCE team welcomed visitors from across the IoT value chain, including device manufacturers, semiconductor companies, module vendors, solution providers, system integrators and network operators.
Throughout the event, many discussions revolved around familiar challenges that companies are currently facing:
- Which LPWAN technology fits best for a specific application?
- How can multiple connectivity technologies be supported within a single product platform?
- How can development effort, certification complexity and project risk be reduced?
- How can future flexibility be maintained as technologies and market requirements evolve?
These questions reflect an important trend that became increasingly visible across the conference: connectivity decisions today are rarely about choosing a single technology. Instead, companies are looking for future-proof strategies that allow products to support different markets, standards and customer requirements.
From protocol selection to connectivity strategy
One of the key observations from TTC 2026 was the industry’s growing focus on multi-technology approaches.
Rather than asking whether LoRaWAN®, mioty®, OMS®, Wireless M-Bus or another technology is “the winner”, many conversations focused on how different technologies can coexist and complement each other within a broader solution architecture.
This aligns closely with STACKFORCE’s expertise. With more than two decades of experience developing protocol stack software, we support customers implementing and maintaining reliable connectivity across multiple wireless and wired communication standards.
The value of Face-to-Face conversations
While technology remains at the center of TTC, one aspect stood out once again: the value of personal exchange. Many of the most productive discussions did not happen on stage, but directly between engineers, product managers, technology experts and innovators discussing real-world challenges and lessons learned from deployed systems.
This perfectly matched the message that STACKFORCE brought to Amsterdam:
“Connectivity decisions don’t happen in presentations. They happen in conversations.”
The exchange of ideas, practical experiences and future requirements continues to play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of connected products.
